Manual Therapy - What is it?
Manual Therapy is a post-graduate process of study and examination for physical therapists and it contains three main principles:
- Orthopedic - Relating to disorders of structures forming joints, together with associated muscles, connective tissues, nerve roots and peripheral nerves (neuro-muscular-articular system).
Manipulative - The skilled and specialized use of manual and/or mechanically applied movement techniques, as a part of comprehensive orthopaedic physical therapy for disorders of the moving parts of body. - Therapy - Relating to therapy by a physical therapist.
OMT education includes theoretic studies: advanced anatomy, biomechanics, physiotherapy, pathology, orthopaedic, academic and practical skills: applied physiotherapy techniques including mobilization and manipulation.
